Selling a relationship, not a catalogue

A wholesale supplier already taking orders on WhatsApp, with no web presence at all. The site had to sell a supply relationship to a chef — so we built it around that objection rather than around a product list.

Our customers order on WhatsApp and I didn't want a website that fought that. They built it around how we actually work — a chef lands on the page, sees the line sheet, and messages us straight from it.

Before

What was off.

The business worked. Orders came in on WhatsApp, relationships were built over the phone, deliveries went out. What it didn't have was any way for a chef who had not met them yet to work out whether they were a supplier worth trusting.

The obvious brief would have been a product catalogue. That would have been the wrong build. A chef choosing a produce supplier isn't shopping for tomatoes — they're deciding whether this business will still be reliable at six in the morning on a Friday in monsoon season.

  • ×No website at all; everything ran on WhatsApp and referral
  • ×No way for a new buyer to evaluate them before making contact
  • ×A catalogue-style site would have answered the wrong question entirely
After

What we switched on.

We built the site around the objection rather than the inventory. It leads with what a chef actually needs to know — range, consistency, delivery windows, and who they would be dealing with — and treats the product list as evidence rather than as the point of the page.

Crucially it doesn't fight the way the business already works. There's no order form asking a chef to change habits. The line sheet sits on the page, and one tap opens a WhatsApp conversation with the item already in it.

  • Built around the supply relationship, not a product catalogue
  • 140-SKU line sheet, browsable on a phone in a working kitchen
  • One-tap WhatsApp ordering — no behaviour change required
  • Local SEO so new buyers can find them without a referral
What changed, measured

The numbers this project moved.

Recorded by the client, not by us, in the ninety days after launch.

0 → 1Owned enquiry channel, where there was none
140SKUs a chef can browse on a phone in a kitchen
1 tapFrom the line sheet to a WhatsApp order

We publish what the client will stand behind. Where a figure isn't independently verifiable, we describe the change rather than invent a percentage.

Enquiries reaching V4Veg directlyFirst six months

Before the site there was no owned channel at all — everything arrived through referral or an existing phone contact.

From nothing to a channel they own. The directory and the phone still work — they are simply no longer the only doors.

The site was built to remove steps, not add a form.

No behaviour change asked of anybody. The order still lands on WhatsApp, where it always did.
